Not Fine Dining Just a Fine Diner
Mecca’s been feeding Seattle since 1930-a rough-edged dive diner where the portions of homemade comfort food and diner classics are are huge and priced right. Pancakes piled high, burgers thick and greasy, classic dinners that stick to your ribs, and friendly customer service until you prove you deserve otherwise. It’s the kind of place for the hungry, the lost, and the restless - a sanctuary where the food hits hard and the drinks burn slow and one of the few places still open late for food in this town striving to be a city.
Order NowHomemade Comfort Food
We’re known for a few things - stiff drinks, authentic Philly Cheesesteaks, Mom’s meatloaf, fries cut by hand. But forget the vodka. The real deal is the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs, smothered in sausage gravy. It’s steak, not chicken - breaded and then fried, and thrown on your plate like it owes you money. You’ll love it.

One of the city’s few restaurants open when the rest of the city curls up and dies for the night. Mecca’s your go-to for homemade comfort food and stiff drinks, no matter the clock. And in the spirit of punk rock, bar art and drink coasters, art from our customers covers the walls. Some going back to who knows when. But as the oldest surviving bar in this part of town, if you stare at the walls long enough you’re sure to find some classic gems.

On our quest to continue to find walkable eats Near the Mediterranean Inn and Climate Pledge arena... my husband stumbled upon their online menu. And with that we made the short walk ( easy enough to do with a cane ) and we made it to this self described dive bar / diner. In reading the menu I was like to many yummy 😋 ... options for me to decide. I finally narrowed it down to the mushroom Swiss burger and upgraded my sides to Jo Jo's ( highly recommend- you get so many - also recommend pairing with their tartar sauce. ) my husband choice was of course a 10oz steak with mashed potatoes and corn. ( honestly the gravy looked pretty yummy 🤤 I should I snuck a bite like he stole some of my Jo Jo's) our server was awesome, I really wish I had gotten her name. Friendly, gave excellent menu recommendations. 👍 up for her Read More

Last night we got into town rather late and not many places were still serving food…that’s where Mecca Cafe comes to the rescue. It’s definitely not fancy, but it’s a great place for late night food and drinks. I had their DeWitt breakfast and my SO ordered their Chicken Fried Steak breakfast (which he raved about ... and has finally agreed this can be one of our stops when we’re on the west side of the state). I think they have some of the best scrambled eggs, which is really the reason I chose to go to this establishment. Read More

Retro grunge rock, cozy kind of atmosphere. I got the breakfast sandwich with a side of hashbrown and my husband got the chicken fried steak, both were delicious! I forgot what my friend got but she shared some of her bacon and bloody Mary with me and they were fantastic. Also, the cinnamon roll is massive! You could ... easily split it between 5 people. Overall, service and food were great, and pricing was fair. Read More

We ate here at the recommendation from staff at our hotel when in Seattle last week and had breakfast for lunch that day. The classic French toast was wonderful! My friend had a breakfast platter and it had so much food she couldn’t finish it. We came back the next day and shared a Monte Cristo that was one of the ... best I’ve ever eaten. Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff and good prices. I’d love to come back someday. Read More

Great stop after coming off the cruise. Great food and perfect dive bar atmosphere to bring us back to the world. They didn't shame me for the breakfast beer either!

I was so looking forward to dining here and I’m glad I have. I had lunch the first day I was here and breakfast the next morning. The corn beef hash is extraordinary. Services fairly friendly, depending on who your server is and the atmosphere is awesome. For lunch, I had the hot beef sandwich which not many people ... serve anymore. The mashed potatoes are homemade and so is the gravy. If you’re in Seattle check this out. Read More

If you're into looks then move along. Don't judge a book by it's cover. This place isn't pretty or fancy however the food and atmosphere is magnificent.

Wait was not long 5 - 10 min. Food was awesome. Had the chicken fried steak. Service was great. Service charge is a little weak tea.
